Perioperative nursing

Perioperative nursing is a term used to describe the diversity of nursing functions related to surgical experience of the client.

Experience phases and Scope Surgery Nurse Activity:
1. Praoperatif Phase
Role of nurses begins when the decision for surgical intervention is made and ends when the client is sent to the operating table.
Scope of nursing activities:

- Assessment of the client base (in hospital or at home)
- Interview praoperatif
- Preparation for anesthesia
- Preparation for surgery
2. Intraoperatif Phase
Begins when the client entered or moved to a part or the surgical department and ends when the client was transferred to the recovery room.
Scope of nursing activities:
- Install the IV-line (IV)
- Give intravenous medication
- Conduct a comprehensive physiologic monitoring during surgical procedures
- Maintain the safety of the client (the client’s hand, set the position of the client)
3. Pascaoperatif Phase
Starting with the entry of the client to the recovery room and ends with the follow-up evaluation in order clinic or at home.
Scope of nursing activities:
- Examine the effects of anesthesia agents
- Monitor the vital functions
- Prevent complications
- Increasing the healing client
- Extension
- Follow-up treatment
- Reference is important for healing
- Rehabilitation
- Repatriation
